Lentil soup - شوربة عدس

Will cure most ailments! Or at least bring temporary relief and warmth to your body.
I have always loved my mother's lentil soup but I never actually watched her make it. While living in Albuquerque with my sister Saba, I learned (or created) my own way of making it which is different from how my mother makes it. It's still very good and mama seems to like it too!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups red lentils
1 cup angel hair noodles
two cubes of chicken (or vegetable) broth, Knorr brand is good
1/2 tbsp cumin
1/2 onion chopped
2 tbsp vegetable oil

Process:
Bring to a boil 8 cups of water with the 2 cubes of broth
Wash and rinse the lentils and add them to the boiling water
let boil for about 20 minutes
Check if the lentils have become soft, they will no longer look red or orange

Add the noodles and simmer until the noodles have become soft as well.
heat some oil and saute the chopped onion
Once the onions have been cooked to slightly brown pour them(with the oil they were cooked in) into the soup, adding the cumin at this point.

If it looks like it is getting too thick you may add a cup of water.
Let it simmer for another 10 minutes then it is ready to serve!
